On the occasion of the 104th anniversary of the liberation of Izmir from enemy occupation—the most critical turning point in our country’s journey toward independence and sovereignty—I commemorate with compassion, gratitude, and respect the founder of our Republic, Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, as well as all our heroes who fought selflessly for this cause.
