ANNOUNCEMENT ON THE PANEL ON VIKING TRACES IN ISTANBUL AND THE BATHONEA ARCHAEOLOGICAL EXCAVATIONS

Dear Members,

The Cultural Tourism Specialization Department Presidency will host a panel titled “Viking Traces in Istanbul and the Bathonea Archaeological Excavations” on Friday, April 17, 2026, at 3:00 PM at the TÜRSAB Central Office. The panel will feature Prof. Dr. Şengül Aydıngün, Director of the Bathonea Archaeological Excavations, and Selçuk Eracun, President of the Istanbul Guides Association and researcher-writer, as speakers; they will share their knowledge and experience with the participants. The event aims to provide significant contributions from both academic and sectoral perspectives.

The panel will address Viking traces shedding light on Istanbul’s early history alongside the Bathonea archaeological excavation works; the relationship between cultural heritage and tourism will be evaluated from multiple perspectives.
