A PANEL ON “THE DEVELOPMENT OF REGIONAL TOURISM AND LOCAL APPROACHES TO PROMOTION AND MARKETING” WAS HELD AS PART OF THE 4TH TÜRSAB TOURISM CONGRESS
The second day of the 4th TÜRSAB Tourism Congress concluded with the panel titled “The Development of Regional Tourism, Local Approaches to Promotion and Marketing,” which addressed the strategic role of local governments in sectoral development.
The session was moderated by Düzce President Dr. Faruk Özlü, with Gaziantep Metropolitan President Fatma Şahin, Trabzon Metropolitan President Ahmet Metin Genç, and Safranbolu President Elif Köse serving as speakers.
During the session, which evaluated the pioneering role municipalities play in tourism-driven urban growth through regional models centered on gastronomy, museums, and boutique tourism, the opportunities for promoting local values on a global scale were analyzed.
Gaziantep Metropolitan President Fatma Şahin emphasized that there is still ground to cover in promotional activities, stating that they will carry out this process under the guidance of TÜRSAB Board President Firuz Bağlıkaya and in full coordination with travel agencies. Şahin noted that promotional efforts can only gain strength through a model of unity and coordination.
Trabzon Metropolitan President Ahmet Metin Genç, focusing on the “Tourism Century” project implemented in parallel with the “Türkiye Century” goals, described acting from this perspective as a vision for sectoral success and congratulated Firuz Bağlıkaya. Following Genç, who highlighted the value of the TÜRSAB Tourism Congress in terms of sectoral solidarity, Safranbolu President Elif Köse took the floor. She shared local success stories such as the “Blue Flag” certification and the boutique tourism approach, drawing attention to the importance of cooperation between local governments and travel agencies.
The session concluded with intense interest and active participation from sector representatives.
