TÜRSAB VICE PRESIDENT DAVUT GÜNAYDIN ATTENDED THE “CHINA-TURKEY TOURISM COOPERATION MEETING”
TÜRSAB Vice President Davut Günaydın attended the “China-Turkey Tourism Cooperation Meeting” held at the Shangri-La Bosphorus Hotel in Istanbul on Monday, July 28, hosted by Mr. Wei Xiaodong, Consul General of the People's Republic of China in Istanbul.
The meeting was also attended by representatives from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the Turkish Tourism Promotion and Development Agency (TGA), the Tourist Guides Association (TUREB), the Turkish Hotels Association (TÜROB), and Chinese civil society organizations.
The meeting, where ideas and suggestions for further strengthening tourism relations between Turkey and China were shared, highlighted topics such as joint promotion efforts, the development of guide services, and the harmonization of tourism infrastructure.
Officials from the Chinese Consulate General in Istanbul emphasized the importance of holding such meetings regularly and expressed their belief that friendly relations between the two countries would be further strengthened through tourism. The travel preferences of Chinese tourists to Turkey and the main problems encountered by Turkish citizens traveling to China were discussed, and solutions and opportunities for cooperation to increase mutual tourism were evaluated.
Speaking at the meeting, TÜRSAB Vice President Davut Günaydın emphasized that China is one of the most important players in world tourism in terms of both incoming and outgoing tourist numbers, saying, "We should not view tourism solely as an economic activity. With its structure that brings different cultures together, tourism is a very special sector that brings societies closer together and builds bridges of peace. I believe that two countries with strong economic and political relations, such as Turkey and China, will further strengthen this bond through tourism."
