The multifaceted nature of tourism, which fuels the local economy, was discussed during the “Industry Perspectives on Local Development” panel held as part of the 5th Bursa Tourism Summit.
The panel, moderated by our Board Member Engin Şahin, featured SKAL Federation President Emre Gezgin, I-MICE President Işıl Özmen, and TUREB Vice President Birsen Bulan as speakers.
During the session, which brought together perspectives from various fields such as gastronomy, professional tour guiding, and conference and event tourism, participants discussed the industry’s needs and proposed solutions to ensure that tourism activity can contribute more to local producers, small businesses, and employment. It was emphasized that local development should be measured not only by the number of visitors but also by the lasting value that tourism creates in the city’s economy.
