A PANEL ON “LOCAL TOURISM DEVELOPMENT” WAS HELD AS PART OF THE BURSA TOURISM SUMMIT
As part of the Bursa Tourism Summit, a panel discussion on “Local Tourism Development” was held, moderated by journalist Gaffar Yakınca.
During the session in which TÜRSAB Board of Directors Chairman Firuz Bağlıkaya participated as a panelist, İbrahim Burkay, President of the Bursa Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Oya Narin, President of the Turkish Tourism Investors Association, also shared their views and assessments.
In his speech, Firuz Bağlıkaya pointed out that citizens’ right to take vacations should be included within the scope of constitutional rights, such as the right to travel, and emphasized that this could be achieved through incentive packages and loans with favorable interest rates.
The panel discussed the development of local tourism, the effective promotion of the natural, historical, and cultural values of destinations, the harnessing of tourism potential through a sustainable approach, and increasing tourism’s contribution to regional development. While attention was drawn to the critical role travel agencies play in transforming local assets into tourism products and bringing them to visitors, it was emphasized that strong travel agencies serve as an important bridge between local potential and the tourism economy.
