AT THE LOCAL GOVERNMENTS PANEL HELD AS PART OF THE 5TH BURSA TOURISM SUMMIT, THE ROLE CITIES PLAY IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF TOURISM WAS DISCUSSED IN DETAIL

At the 5th Bursa Tourism Summit, during the Local Governments panel, the role cities play in the development of tourism was discussed in detail.

The panel, moderated by Recep Altepe, Deputy Chair of Local Governments, featured Dr. Mehmet Hilmi Güler, Mayor of Ordu Metropolitan Municipality; Faruk Özlü, Mayor of Düzce; and Şahin Biba, Deputy Mayor of Bursa Metropolitan Municipality, as speakers.

During the session, participants assessed the contributions of local governments to destination development, the integration of cities’ natural, historical, and cultural assets into tourism, the impact of tourism investments on cities’ economic and social development, and sustainable destination management. Views and recommendations were shared on promoting cities while preserving their unique identities and on strengthening cooperation between the public and private sectors in tourism.
