THE “COOPERATION AND THE FUTURE OF TOURISM SUMMIT” WAS HELD BY ISTANBUL NIŞANTAŞI UNIVERSITY, ORGANIZED BY THE INTERNATIONAL MICE INDUSTRY ASSOCIATION (I-MICE)
The “Cooperation and Future in Tourism Summit,” planned and organized by the I-MICE Association and hosted by Istanbul Nişantaşı University, brought together industry representatives and academia. Representing our association at the Summit, TÜRSAB Vice President Hasan Eker served as a speaker, while Audit Committee Member Yüksel Türemez attended as a participant.
Held at the Assoc. Prof. Dr. Cevdet Uysal Conference Hall on the NeoTech Campus of Istanbul Nişantaşı University, the summit addressed key topics regarding the current state and future of the tourism sector. During the panels organized as part of the event, the development of cooperation between the industry and academia, and the more effective utilization of Türkiye's tourism potential emerged as central themes.
In the first panel titled “Does the Industry and Academia Speak the Same Language? A Multifaceted Perspective on the Relationship Between Travel Agencies, Hotels, and Academia,” travel agencies, hotel representatives, and academics evaluated industry-academia collaboration from various perspectives. During the panel, TÜRSAB Vice President Hasan Eker provided information on MICE incentives and the MICE Specialization Certificate, while also offering insights into the activities of the TÜRSAB MICE Specialization Department and the recently prepared MICE Specialization Report.
In the second panel titled “Potential Exists, Why Is the Share So Low? The Reality of MICE in Türkiye,” the current state of MICE tourism in Türkiye, areas for development, and the steps needed to achieve a stronger position in international competition were discussed. The panel, which also featured the participation of Hüseyin Kurt, a member of the TGA Board of Directors and a representative of travel agencies, shared important insights into the sector’s future.
The summit, which emphasized the importance of collective wisdom for the development of the tourism sector, concluded with productive outcomes that will contribute to strengthening collaboration between the industry and academia.
