ANNOUNCEMENT ON THE “DIGITAL COPYING AND FRAUD” MEETING WITH META OFFICIALS
Dear Members,
Our Vice President Davut Günaydın held a meeting with META Officials in order to prevent fraudulent and deceptive content.
In the meeting attended by Ms. İlke Çarkçı Toptaş, META Turkey Country Director and Ms. Naz Değirmenci, Public Relations Manager, ideas were exchanged on the solutions offered by META on 'Digital Copying and Fraud'.
Information on tools to help prevent fraudulent and deceptive content;
(i) Reporting: The most important thing to do if you see content that violates META principles is to report it through META platforms. To do so, simply click on the three dots in the top right corner of the identified content and follow the necessary steps. Both individuals and businesses can use these tools.
META removes fake accounts reported by other users for impersonating themselves or someone else.
Also, any business today can report a hacked account or suspected impersonation by visiting facebook.com/hacked or instagram.com/hacked/. META has impersonation protection built in across the platform and regularly reports fake accounts it takes action against in its Community Standards Enforcement report.
(ii) Trademark Rights Protection:
Any business can report counterfeit accounts through the META Business Help Center or monitor and report counterfeiting using the Trademark Rights Protection tool.
Trademark Rights Protection is a tool that allows brands to protect their intellectual property in META technologies. It allows brands to identify and report content that contains counterfeit products, trademark and copyright infringement, and impersonation.
Some of the types of content that can be reported:
- Facebook or Instagram ads
- Facebook or Instagram posts
- Facebook Pages, profiles or Groups, Instagram accounts
- Stores, Facebook Marketplace, trading groups
Once a takedown request is submitted, the META team usually reviews it within a day, verifies that the complaint is complete and valid, and quickly removes the complained content.
More information on the Trademark Rights Protection Tool can be found here.
(iii) Intellectual Property (IP) Protection:
More details on the principles and practices for protecting intellectual property rights on META Platforms can be found on this page:

(iv) Advertising Library
https://www.facebook.com/ads/library
When it comes to ads, there is a public Ad Library that allows you to search for all active ads published on META platforms using keywords. You can see when the ad was published, on which technologies it was published and who sponsored the ad.
(v) Fraud Prevention Center
https://about.meta.com/actions/safety/anti-scam/
You can find detailed information on how to protect yourself from fraudulent activities and how to report misleading content you encounter from the Fraud Prevention Center.
We continue to meet with all relevant authorities. We will follow the issue until we get results.
Sincerely for your information.
